Photoshop Elements 9 1st first edition Text Only Barbara Brundage Books Reviews

This book is great. I had just bought the Photoshop Elements 9 software. As the program didn't come with a manual I bought this book. It is easy to understand and walks you through pretty much everything connected to the program. There are pics you can download from their site to work on if you want. I still haven't made it to the end of the book but I have learned alot from it. I strongly suggest buying this book if you haven't had any photoshop training.
This book is SO helpful. Without it, there is so much I would have missed in Photoshop Elements 9. MUCH better than the help sites at Adobe.

If you're already very familiar with Photoshop itself, Photoshop Elements 9 may be a breeze, but I wasn't, so the book has been very useful for me and will serve as my main resource for a long time to come especially since I don't find Photoshop Elements particularly intuitive to use -- particularly in getting around the program, using shortcuts, etc.

I can't say that everything in this book is arranged the way I'd like to see it, but since it really is a thorough manual, the table of contents works well to get to exactly what you want to do at the moment. If there could be one major improvement, I'd say that would be to include a full chart of shortcuts. Little things, as simple as UNDO or removing crop lines you've drawn shouldn't be that difficult to use without reading a manual. That is the result of the program itself however, not the manual.

I'd buy this book again, but it will be a long time before I'll put everything to do use. Point is -- the instructions are there in the manual. Very helpful pictures and tips as well.
Wow....this does not live up to its hype. It has 599 pages and is 7 inch X 9 inch.in size...prettyy tiny for the contents.
Reference to all the panels, bins and tabs is on a black background making it impossible to read the teeny tiny replica of your elments program.
I'm sure the author is an expert of the highest level...but this book is not for beginners. Every photo in it is "muddy" looking. Throughout the manual you are looking at references to "figure numbers" which are minutely printed on a dull black backgrund. This $30 book is a total ripoff. It
does not show beginners what to touch or press.for each of the processes......it merely writes about it.
Lots of luck with that as a beginner !!
We'll I started photography on a lot of different fronts probably to many fronts, one day in my office we saw an add at best buy we noticed a nice canon disorder and we started there then the $2,000 MAC BOOK PRO since everyone was telling us it was mandatory for the Mac after about 4 months we found out how wrong they were but I wish that we're the only mistake. I liked using Photoshop Elements because it was one level down from adobes flag ship product called photoshop which is very difficult to work with but once one masters it! the end product is so cool??I was so envious! still am for that matter when I get a chance to look at models online. elements would be a good place to start to see where one might go. But all in all get the camera first and be able to work that camera in the dark with all of huge settings, like a sniper and his rifle, that is a big mistake, people rely on technology to cleanup, tweak this or adjust this. Begin by doing kit with the camera, the available lighting, reflectors inexpensive stuff like that. Then maybe get a flash one can do a lot with a simple flash. The key is learning the camera, nothing will happen without the knowledge of the camera, mark my words. Good luck and it is really fun!!!!
Faced with learning Photoshop Elements totally from scratch, I was intimidated. I bought this book and with trembling hands (not much of an exaggeration) began reading, a small section at a time. Of course I didn't understand it all, but gradually ideas began to sink in. Keep in mind that the whole idea of layers, masking and so on was new to me.

I'm not an artist, I'm a writer. I needed to design covers for some of my out-of-print novels (mysteries, romances, paranormals), which I'm reissuing in low-cost digital editions. Plus I wanted to publish a nonfiction book.

Wish I could say that the moment I downloaded PSE9, I became an expert. No, there was lots of cursing and tearing out my hair, and I viewed some of the online videos repeatedly. What saved me from total frustration was being able to look things up in this book, which is well organized, clearly written and beautifully illustrated.

I'm constantly learning, and without this book, I might have given up. To see a cover I designed within a few weeks after starting to use PSE9, check out the link. (My husband shot the photo but I edited it and added the text and the color strips)
